Remember when Kurt and I traveled to Italy a couple summers ago for Claudio and Manuela's wedding? Well, the happy couple were back in the states for vacation a couple weeks ago. They spent about a week in NYC (before heading off to Niagra Falls and Ohio) which meant we got to drag them around to all our favorite attractions. One sunny Sunday, we took advantage of all the great outdoor fun in Brooklyn.
I generally never buy anything, but I think taking visitors to the Brooklyn Flea is such a great experience. If nothing else, the people watching is unbeatable.
Of course the food is always excellent too. This time I tried an overflowing fish sandwich from Handsome Hank's Fish Hut. It was delicious but a little hard to handle, especially when awkwardly perched on a park bench.
After the Flea, we took a ride on the East River Ferry.
We landed at Brooklyn Bridge Park and took some photos (Italians don't really smile in pictures...weird!) before walking down to Pier 6 for a couple drinks.
Claudio and Manuela's English is pretty limited and my knowledge of Italian is practically non-existent, so communicating is always an adventure. We make do somehow! Stay tuned for our journey to the Midwest!
