weekend in review

Kurt and I are determined to make it all the way through our Beer Books this year, so we had an outing to Ditmas Park on Friday night. We had awesome burgers at Ox Cart Tavern and even sat outside at The Castello Plan for a little while (until we got too chilly because we're babies). It was great to explore a new neighborhood for once!

Kurt had to work a lot this weekend, so I was left to entertain myself for a couple days. After a sweet potato pancake breakfast experiment, I pushed my disdain for crowds to the limit and walked (nay, crawled) through the Renegade Craft Fair. There was so much great stuff, but I couldn't bear to endure the whole shopping experience surrounded by so many people. I'm hoping a lot of the vendors have etsy sites. Online shopping is much more my speed :)

On Sunday, Aubie assisted me on a craft project. Has anyone ever played the board game Joker? Well, Kurt's family loves it, so we sometimes play it when we get together. I whipped us up a snazzy board from pegboard and yarn. I hope it gets lots of use over the holidays!

And in other news, I've been searching for a TV show I can binge watch without Kurt (because of the aforementioned working all the time) and got involved with Don't Trust the B----- in Apt 23. It's a little over the top but very hilarious. Plus, I heard it got cancelled, so I'm only signing myself up for a limited time period. I can only handle so much commitment :)

Who else is pumped for a 3 day week!?!

rural studio fundraiser

Rural Studio party! We had a small but generous turnout and were able to raise over $200! Of course, we also ate lots of good food. Kurt made a delicious red pepper pasta dish for dinner. I added in some garlic bread and meatballs and we chowed down on banana pudding for dessert. Thanks to everyone who came and donated! Thanks to all the people that couldn't make it but donated online! Thanks to Mackenzie and Natalie from the Rural Studio for helping me pull things together! And as always, thanks to Kurt for being a great co-host!

feeling generous? support the rural studio!

This year marks the 20th Anniversary of Auburn University's Rural Studio. It's a great program and a cause that is near and dear to my heart. To mark the occasion, the Rural Studio is gathering the funds to build twenty 20K houses! In order to garner a little friendly competition, Rural is pitting city against city in the 20K City Challenge. NYC is lagging a bit, so Kurt and I are hosting a fundraising dinner this weekend to make our contribution to the fund. We hope our efforts can move us up in the standings!

If you would like to learn more or would like to donate to the cause, email me or read more here. If you live in the NYC area and want to come to our little dinner, let me know and I'll send you the details. The more the merrier!

week(end) in review

On Thursday, Kurt and I went to a party for dwell magazine at Jane's Carousel in DUMBO. Such a cool venue! On Saturday, I attended a really fun Stella and Dot trunk show hosted by Daina (miraculously, I've got lots of Christmas shopping done already!) and followed it up with some football watching. That night, Kurt and I went to Two Boots in Park Slope before its closing for some quirky pizza concoctions. Sunday was filled with lots of tasks around the apartment and biscuits and gravy for dinner. Also, I finally got my hair cut (it's seriously been a year) and am decently happy with the results, including bangs! I'm not much for selfies so it may be a while before the new look is revealed :) I hope you all had great weekends as well!

marathon (and some recent photos)

Last weekend was the NYC Marathon and I was so happy to have it back after last year's race was cancelled. It is hands down my favorite event in the city. Kurt and I watched on 4th Avenue in Brooklyn and while it was nice and cool for running, it was a bit chilly for spectating. We stuck it out for a couple hours and saw lots of determined athletes, including some in hilarious costumes. A few of people in our crowd were cheering on the runners with bunches of kale. It was a huge hit with everyone!

some other recent happenings:
view from a current project // apartment therapy design evening with dana tanamachi // modern townhouse studies
park slope halloween parade // flaming cocktails // scalloped potato experiments
aubie helped me with the halloween decorations // fall flowers // pumpkin bread
