This past Thursday, I had the opportunity to join Kurt at the New York ASLA awards night. It was held at the Horticultural Society of New York and I was very excited to rub shoulders with some of the city's finest flower children. Terrain received an award for a house they worked on upstate. The picture above is my attempt to capture them receiving their award. Wasn't so successful.
Terrain's presentation images. The house is this really cool glass, Modernist structure. The client and architect were both in attendance and everyone was incredibly proud of how it all turned out.
Terrain's intern from New Zealand extended her stay just to attend this party. Here Kurt and Sylvia are critiquing another firm's entry.
It was Sylvia's last night in New York City, so we felt we needed to show here a good time beyond the free wine and cheese at the ASLA thing. There aren't too many great places in midtown but we decided to try out Mé Bar on the rooftop of the La Quinta Inn in Koreatown. It sounds cheesy but it has this amazing view of the Empire State Building. It was a pretty hazy, rainy night and the lights on the tower made the sky glow. I look forward to going back in the summer when we can actually enjoy their big roof deck. Might be a great place to take out of town visitors!
After Mé Bar, we got some food at Jackson Hole for no other reason than Kurt wanted to see how it compared to the actual city in Wyoming after his recent visit. I hope Sylvia had a great time in NYC. I can't wait for her to return or for me to take a journey to New Zealand!
Woo hoo, awards for terrain...
ReplyDeleteSo as it turns out Jackson Hole NYC is nothing like Jackson (the town) or Jackson Hole (the ski resort) in WY. They didn't even have Snake River Brewing!
Oh, you forgot to mention that we could've totally charged our Jackson Hole tab to PDA!
